Congratulations to T&T’s New FEI Level 1 Showjumping Judges!

The international governing body of equestrian sports, Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) in conjunction with the Barbados Equestrian Association hosted a certified FEI Level 1 Judge Jumping Course from 10th– 13th April, 2018 in Bridgetown, Barbados. This Level 1 Course is the entry level to judging showjumping events at an international level.

Applications were accepted by the FEI for three delegates from the Trinidad and Tobago Equestrian Association, Ms. Asha Bansee, Mrs. Anja Taylor and Mr. Vashish White, to participate in the course which was facilitated by the highest level (Level 4) judges, Mr. Károly Fugli (Hungary) and Mr. Pablo Mayorga (Argentina).

A total of 16 participants travelled from countries such as Cyprus, Canada, Cayman Islands, Jamaica, Bermuda, Venezuela and Trinidad & Tobago to spend a duration of four days learning about important topics such as the FEI showjumping rules and regulations, the FEI Code of Conduct and the Philosophy of Judging.

The course culminated with practical, written and oral exams.  It was a long 4 days, with lots of hours in the books learning about situations new to them and reviewing rules and regulations.  The hard work paid off and all three Trinidadians were successful.

This status “FEI Level 1 Judge” permits them to act as a Judge at international, regional and local showjumping events.
