Team Trinidad represented well at the Big C Stables invitational that took place on March 17-18, 2018 in Barbados.
Anja Taylor, one of the coaches from Saddle Valley Stables traveled to Barbados for the invitational show hosted by Di Clarke of Big C Stables. She took the team of Isabella Powell from Saddle Valley Stables and Katie Darlow from San Antonio Stables.
The riders both competed in the 0.70m class where they navigated over 10 obstacles including a double combination.
They both rode extremely well and had 16 other riders in their class.
Isabella on Essien was 4th and Katie on Eclipse was 8th both were clear and the times were all very close with only parts of a second separating them.
On Sunday they had a fun pairs event where they were both paired with a Barbadian rider. Isabella was paired with Zuri Connell and they shared Essien. Isabella rode the 1st half of the course and had to then get off and Zuri get on and finish the course. They came 4th. Katie was paired Becky Kent, who had a quick 1st 1/2 of the course, they shared Eclipse and placed 8th. Katie did however have a spill, but got back on to continue.
It was a great experience for the girls, riding unknown horses, having 5minutes to learn the horse, riding on grass vs sand that they are used to, and riding under lights.
